Black Skin-pack
Factory Schemes, based on Zavod Black
At the factories in the USSR that churned out aircraft by the tens of thousands, the painters went a bit wild with the black spray paint & created many memorable & intriguing paint schemes. They are celebrated here in a selection of skins linked by the liberal use of Zavod black.
The Black Skin-pack contains :
- From 161 IAP comes Red 1, near Minsk 1941
- Red 9, flown by Lt. Vershin in 1941
- White 13 of 7 IAP, 1941
- S. Slesarchuk's White 1 was with the PVO forces of 7 IAK in Moscow, spring 1941
- On the Baltic front with the 4 GIAP-KBF, White 28 was Vasiliev's aircraft
- A simple scheme, White 3, 1941
- Kapitan Mirovan Sergeev of 8 IAP, Baltic Sea Fleet, flew White 30 during the heroic defense of Seavastopol, winter 1941-42
