Work In Progress : May '08

It's been a while, but I'm back! Off the sofa & into the flak!
Well after a long time of doing no skinning - cos I got bloody sick of it - I'm back into it, thanks to the cock-up with the new defaults for the 4.09m patch that's due in ... 2 weeks! Ho ho ho that never gets old! So after sorting the MiG-3's out I got all inspired & got stuck into a bird I liked but hadn't seen any skins I'd loved ... the Mossie!

Work on the Mossie template is progressing well, albeit slowly; but I think I've hit a bit of a wall lately. As usual, there's as many different interpretations as there are skinners & far fewer accurate plans. It's times like these that I wish I lived somewhere with a decent air museum so I could get good pics of what a MkVI actually looks like & whether or not there IS visible ribbing on the tail & surfaces. Ok ok I'm just putting off getting into the weathering & treatment of the paint. Y'all know I hate doing paint chips!

Also in the works is an Emil template, with which I'm hoping to uncover some new secrets ... by a little trial & error, a little copying & a little swearing no doubt. I like the free-flowing, realistic look much more than my mechanical, artifical 'style' but I don't think I really have the talent for it LOL no harm in trying though, right?

Oh yeah & I wasted a few hundred hours playing with CSS & Javascript updating the source for these pages. Also went to a widescreen format for the screenies & a magnifyer to load a higher res image so you can zoom in on details. I may add a help page for those who can't figure out how to turn it on & zoom with it. Here's a hint for the less uber-geeky among us: read the 'alt' description for the image or link by holding the cursor over it & waiting for a bit! Pops up way fast in IE7 but Firefox waits for a bit ... pass on why.
